A U-jack, or U-head jack, fits on top of a scaffold standard or prop. Its U-shaped head cradles timber or steel runners, and the threaded rod with a wing nut lets you raise or lower the head to the exact level of the formwork.
U-jacks are essential for slab staging with cuplock or H-frames, where the runners must be set level before centering sheets go down.
